In recent years, the age of marriage and childbearing among Hong Kong residents has been declining. The average age of first-time mothers in 2021 exceeded 32, nearly 7 years later than 30 years ago. Reproductive medicine experts have found that the number of couples seeking treatment for infertility is steadily increasing. Currently, one in six couples in Hong Kong is infertile, leading to a surge in demand for egg and sperm cryopreservation. Frozen egg production has increased by as much as 140%, and sperm freezing by nearly 30%, reflecting the growing demand for assisted reproductive medical services in Hong Kong. Recently, a woman in her late 50s successfully gave birth to a baby through in-vitro fertilization.
