Summer is almost here, and while enjoying the sunshine, it's also important to protect your skin. What are the key points for summer skincare? What health problems might arise if your skin isn't properly cared for? This time, we've invited a beautiful female Chinese medicine practitioner to share her summer skincare tips. Registered Chinese Medicine practitioner Wong Ching-ching said, "Chinese medicine skincare emphasizes both internal and external care. The condition of one's facial skin often reflects their Qi and blood. Chinese medicine theory states that May to August belongs to summer and the long summer season, corresponding to the heart and spleen. Summer temperatures are high, and Hong Kong also experiences more rainfall, making the body prone to damp-heat. In summer, it is important to properly clear heat and remove dampness for better skin condition. When the body is damp-heat, symptoms may include oily face, acne and pimples, yellow eye discharge upon waking, yellowish complexion and swelling, and possibly bad breath and constipation."

[Skin Care Diet Recommendations]

In summer, it's recommended to eat foods that help cool you down and remove dampness, such as mung beans and winter melon. Women who want to remove dampness and whiten their skin can drink lemon and barley water or brewed tea with lentil flowers and rose petals. If you spend a lot of time in air-conditioned environments and your skin becomes dry, Dr. Huang suggests cooking some yin-nourishing foods, such as lotus seeds, lily bulbs, sand ginseng, Solomon's seal, snow pears, and snow fungus, which can moisturize the skin.

Sibai acupoint: Look straight ahead, about 1-2 cm directly below the pupil, and feel the depression. Sibai is an acupoint on the Stomach Meridian, which has the effect of nourishing the spleen and stomach qi and blood in the surrounding area.
